Cake Tourism
We are intrepid cake tourists, travelling the globe in search of amazing cake. Aghast at the lack of cake information in tour guides we will tell you the reader where to go for the best cake, wherever you are in the world. Obviously this may take some time but we're willing to do what it takes: eating lots of cake.

What do we want? Tea! When do we want it? Upon touching down ...

News today of cake's favourite accompaniment - the good old fashioned cup of tea.

Basically MPs want a nice lady with a tea trolley to go round airports offering people a nice cuppa upon their touchdown. What a great idea! Because we all know, you can't have a nice cup of tea without cake!

We Interrupt This Broadcast ...

Teacakes, originally uploaded by mooosh.

...to bring you breaking news of a cake-related variety.

Chocolate-covered teacakes are a hot topic of debate in the EU! The idea of cakes being debated by the government really tickles us at Cake Tourism!

Marzipan Wedge

Marzipan Wedge, originally uploaded by mooosh.

The marzipan wedge! Anything with marzipan gets my vote.

It was a spongey cake covered in a layer of marzipan and a bit of chocolate. It was nice, but I could only eat half of it at one sitting, probably because I was recovering from being ill, but possibly because it was very sweet, even by my standards.

It could be enhanced with a smear of jam between the marzipan and the sponge.

Eaten by Claire and purchased from Cake Tourism favourite, Roy's Bakery in Tynemouth.

Top Hats

Top Hats, originally uploaded by mooosh.

The king of the coffee morning. Eaten by Claire and Jo at the Hutcheson Grammar School Christmas Fayre last Saturday. The chocolate was the cheapest dark cooking chocolate - it was not good. They were about 10p each tho, which is cheap! They'll be available next Christmas!

Victoria Sponge

Victoria Sponge, originally uploaded by mooosh.

Eaten by Claire at the National Museum of Scotland cafe, which is quite lovely. We were there to see mar-c's stuff in an exhibition. The photo does not do this justice - the cake was about 6 inches tall! It was very nice - light sponge, creamy filling - a little more jam next time tho, please.

Meringue

Meringue, originally uploaded by mooosh.

The biggest, fattest cake I've seen in a long time - it was quite fantastic! A nice crisp shell, gooey and chewy on the inside with lashings of perfect whipped cream and fresh strawberries - simply divine. It was also - MAHOOOOSIVE! These are available at the Willow Tea Rooms on Sauchiehall Street. I urge you to go there NOW. Eaten by Claire
